Don't catastrophize.

This is Wasabi the whippet.  She is just over 6months old now.

Whipppets have been described as 35mph couch potatoes, but she still has a bit of puppy ADHD.  Even so, she often needs coaxing out of bed, even at 9-10am.

I have OCD.  Catastrophizing seems to be part of it.
What do I mean by this? Below is one definition:

"Catastrophizing is an irrational thought a lot of us have in believing that something is far worse than it actually is."

This tendency to catastrophize makes my life, and others around me, hard.

Today, Wasabi got a nasty scratch on her upper hind leg (photo shows where the vet shaved) in the backyard while bolting around numerous obstacles.  It took the skin clean off.   I catastrophized. She didn't.

We went to the vet and he said she'll be fine, but she'll be back again for the same reason sooner or later.

See the picture?  She knows her leg is sore, and I'm sure she has given it some attention.  On the other hand, she isn't fretting.  Rather, Wasabi is enjoying a tasty treat on her new bed.

As usual I'm presently catastrophizing about a number of things, but when I look at Wasabi today, her calm calms me.
